Bucket List: Mule Edition

I don’t have a Mule Tale for you this week because I have managed to run out of ready-to-go Tales, and I’ve been a bit lax about gathering more. The funny thing I’ve noticed is that people very rarely ask to be featured, but if I ask them then I have never yet been turned down. Ben says he thinks this is because no one believes their own story is interesting enough (unless you’re me, of course, in which case you’ve dedicated an entire blog to your blah-blah. “So my mule did this thing and I don’t really know why he did this thing, also I’m not even sure if I put my shoes on the right feet this morning, gosh life is so confusing”).

I feel a bit spammy when I keep commenting on peoples’ posts and pictures and asking them if they’d like to join in, so I don’t do it as much as I probably should. Help me out! Come tell me about your awesomeness!

Anyway. I came across a now extinct bucket list blog hop, and figured I’d fill the space with that instead.

My Bucket List: Mule Edition

Other peoples’ mules

We met the Grand Canyon mules last year in the snow, but didn’t ride.

My mules – short term

      • get Xato going bitless
      • GO FOR A HACK! (in company)
      • GO FOR A HACK! (solo)

My mules – long term

      • go on a long distance ride with Ben. Possibly somewhere in the Brecon Beacons?
      • learn jousting, archery, swordmanship etc.
      • be able to ride bridleless
      • ride on a clinic
      • compete in agility
      • attend a show
Xato (in case you’d forgotten what he looks like), and some riders’ POV photos featuring Cash and Iris to show you the kind of terrain we have round here for hacking!

I will update this list if and when I achieve the items on it! I won’t lie, going for a hack on my own mule is the grail as far as I’m concerned. Everything else is extra.

I love this bucket list, it’s so ‘normal’ 😄 and so like mine. I have four horses/ ponies under 8, two are homebred youngsters and two I bought as weanlings so I’d know everything that was in their heads. A pretty herd doing not very much, all would be considered late starters. My bucket list has things like “go for a nice hack on my own without thinking about traffic all the time” and “try TREC”. No Olympics or even affiliated eventing or SJ (although jousting, driving trials and horseball all look fun). Near the top of my bucket list is “get a mule”!

Ha! Well, I’m of the opinion that something relatively small like being able to safely hack out with your own horse/mule is a greater achievement than many of the “big” things I could have picked. I like the sound of your bucket list – obviously I’m biased, but you absolutely should obtain the mule goal. I know of a nice Percheron mule for sale in Wales if you’re interested…!
